Story
I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027 in support of SANDS. 💜
Why I’m running
After seeing first-hand the impact SANDS had on a close family member, the compassion, care and unwavering support they provided to them during one of the most difficult times was truly amazing.
Their dedication made an incredible difference.
Because of that experience, I want to do my part. I want to raise vital funds, but also help raise awareness of the amazing work they do.
About SANDS
SANDS is a UK pregnancy and baby loss charity.
They support anyone affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth. They also work tirelessly to improve maternity safety and reduce the number of babies who die.
SANDS provides emotional support through local support groups, online communities, a dedicated helpline, and resources for bereaved parents, families and friends.
They also offer training and guidance to healthcare professionals, helping ensure families receive compassionate, high-quality bereavement care when they need it most.
Alongside supporting families, SANDS funds and promotes research into pregnancy and baby loss. They campaign for improvements in maternity services and work with the NHS, government and healthcare providers to improve care and help save babies’ lives.
They also raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss, helping to break the stigma surrounding a subject that many families feel unable to talk about.
Every day, around 13 babies die before, during or shortly after birth in the UK. Behind every one of those statistics is a family whose lives have changed forever.
SANDS is there to ensure that no one has to face that journey alone.
Support
I’m hoping to raise at least £300, and every single donation, no matter how big or small, will help SANDS continue supporting bereaved families, funding life-saving research and working towards a future where fewer families experience the heartbreak of losing a baby.
Thank you so much for your support.
Whether you choose to donate, share my fundraiser or simply help spread awareness of SANDS, it really does make a difference. 💜
