Macca is raising money for prostate cancer!

BUPA London 10,000 2013 · 27 May 2013 ·
"If there is a family history of prostate cancer, men are 2 to 3 times more likely to develop it themselves later on in life" (Cancer Research UK, 2012).
My granddad had been living a number of years in discomfort but being the strong man that he was, chose not to get checked out and ignored the pain. It was only when he did eventually go to the doctors that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. With this time being so late, there was nothing that could be done and eventually on the 15th march 1997 he lost his battle with cancer, and fell into a deep peaceful sleep.
It has always been suggested that cancer can of course be heriditory but this is not always the case. However, in 2012 my dad became one of those cases. Being diagnosed at the young age of 58, it was a big suprise to me and my whole family but so far he is doing brilliant and is still as happy and positive as ever. It is very hard to even begin to put into words how proud my family and I are of all his progress but doing this race is just a start.
I am running the BUPA 10k because I want the chance to give back all that PCRC gives to men just like my dad suffering with prostate cancer throughout the UK. I also want to run the BUPA 10k in memory of my granddad who I wished could of seen me grow up into the woman I am today, running this race for him and my father along with the estimated thousands of men going through it as well.
Any donations would be brilliant to try and help me reach my £500 target. Even if its just a few pounds, it all counts and goes towards a brilliant cause.
Thank you all for your support. Together we will beat cancer.
