Story

On Sunday 8th March 2020 I will be doing a 26.2 hour sofa marathon.

Yes thats right, for 26 hours and 12 minutes I will be staying put on my sofa and I'll be documenting my experience throughout the day on my social media account:

https://www.instagram.com/emilyspence__/

I'll be allowed to pop to the toilet when required but other than that I will spend the entire 26 hours and 12 minutes on my sofa with all the food/drink I need delivered to me.

My aims for the challenge are to:

  1. Raise money for the eating disorder charity Beat.
  2. Raise awareness of eating disorders and the recovery from them during Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2020.
  3. Empower others by showing that rest, an essential element of the recovery process, is not only ok, it's good! During the challenge I'll be using my Instagram account as a platform to discuss the importance of rest in recovery and beyond.

This may not be your typical sponsored challenge but, as someone who has personally struggled with Anorexia, fund-raising for Eating Disorders in a non-active way is something I feel passionate about. For those who have never struggled with an eating disorder this challenge may not seem as tough as running a marathon or swimming 10K, but those with experience of eating disorders will know that this is anything but the case.
