Suicide&Co provide one-to-one counselling support to people bereaved by suicide. Thanks to your donations and fundraising efforts we can provide practical and emotional support to help people through their grief journey.

Story

On October 9th I will be running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the incredible charity Suicide&Co, whose aim is to open up the conversation around suicide-related grief and offer specialist counselling to those bereaved by suicide. The race is 13.1 miles (21.1km) across some of London’s most beautiful green spaces. I’d be grateful for any support at all, whether it be donating to the charity or coming to cheer me along from the sidelines.

From personal experience, I know how difficult it can be to navigate your emotions after someone you love takes their own life. I lost my cousin James in 2006 and my good friend Nicholas in 2019 to suicide. Both of them were incredibly special men - passionate, thoughtful individuals with a twinkle in their eye, and both were hugely loved by their family and friends, of which there are a great deal.

There are many layers to suicide-related grief, painful emotions and endless questions to ponder by those left behind and at times it can feel all-consuming. However, eventually being able to open up to a friend or a counsellor can make the process of grieving feel a lot less overwhelming, and certainly less lonely.

That is why a charity like Suicide&Co is so important, and can make the world of difference during our times of need.

The money I raise will be going directly to the charity to help fund their counselling service which offers one-on-one professional support through talking therapies as well as their Helpline, both run by trained bereavement counsellors.

So in memory of James and Nick and in order to help support those bereaved by suicide, please donate to Suicide&Co, any contribution you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much,

Emily
