Emilys 10k step challenge for Bowel Cancer UK

Step up for 30 2021 · 1 April 2021 to 30 April 2021 ·
I'm taking part in Step up for 30 in April to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
My Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the start of November last year, and only a month after his diagnoses underwent a massive operation to remove the tumour.
A consultation with the cancer surgeon mid February brought some amazing news for us - the operation had been successful! They managed to remove all the cancer, his lymph nodes were clear, and all other organs cancer free, which also meant no need for chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
I am so thankful to all the staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, and the aftercare he's received has been brilliant! I can't even put into words how thankful I am to the surgeon for saving his life!!
I have decided to take up the challenge of walking 10,000 steps every day in April to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK. I didn’t realise how little steps I actually do on a normal working day (sometimes not even 2,000 😐). 10,000 steps is roughly 5 miles a day, so bring on the lighter nights and warmer weather!
Bowel Cancer UK are the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with over 16,000 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. I'm determined to help Bowel Cancer UK to change that. The money you donate will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable them to fund and support research into bowel cancer and to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.
