On 7-8th November 2009 two friends and I, who are representing the Warwick Amnesty society exec, will be taking part in Warwick Jailbreak...

Basically we have 36 hours to get as far away from campus as possible - whilst spending no money. We have to rely on our quick wit and pretty faces to hitch lifts to wherever possible, by whatever means of transport possible.

Amnesty International is dedicated to supporting people worldwide who are exploited in some way and have had their human rights deprived of them. Many of these people have been robbed of a voice and we feel that, living in a democracy where we are lucky to have freedom of speech, we should make the most of this to give a voice to the voiceless and show them that we care.

Studies have shown that Amnesty campaigns such as letter writing to prisoners of conscience have worked in giving these prisoners their freedom. We believe that it is vital to keep on fighting for these human beings who just want to live their lives.
