Story

Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting our fundraising page. If you’re here you must know one of us, but maybe not both of us! So just to introduce us both; Emma is a recruitment director living in Ripponden, and Ant is a nurse from Wales who lives in Huddersfield. We’ve been good friends since we first met at Huddersfield Uni 14 years ago.

The charity we have chosen is Kidney Research Yorkshire. A local charity that means something to us both. Ant works closely with patients and colleagues in the renal department of the hospital in which he works, and Emma lost her step-father to kidney failure when she was young. Her grandma also has kidney failure & has needed regular dialysis for the last 3+ years.

We are hoping to raise a little money for our chosen charity by running a race every month this year until September. That's 8 races totalling 81km, or just over 50 miles!

Huddersfield 10k - 23rd Feb

Pontefract 10K - 8th March

Sowerby Bridge 'Flat Caps' 10k (By Eck!) - 5th April

Huddersfield 10k - 25th May

Halifax half marathon (!!!) - 28th June

Halifax 5k - 11th July

York 10k - 2nd August

Slaithwaite Northern Jumble 5k - 26th September

We started running together on a Saturday morning at our local Park Run in Huddersfield for a bit of fun, and we both quickly caught the running bug and wanted to challenge ourselves and do some good in the process.

About the charity

Founded in 1970 as the Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund, we support research into the problems associated with all aspects of kidney disease. Now known as Kidney Research Yorkshire, we rely on donations, fundraising, voluntary support and legacies to help us fund kidney research in the region.
