Firstly, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

My good friend Anna (a.k.a. Chullo) and I have decided (stupidly) to climb Kilimanjaro at the end of October to raise money for charity.  My chosen charity is Real Action - an independent, community-led, specialist educational charity. 

The charity is based in a West London community with the UK’s highest level of child deprivation and focuses on increasing literacy rates for children through its Saturday school Butterfly literacy classes. I volunteer on Saturdays during term time at a primary school in Queens Park and I can confirm that it is a very worthwhile cause!

Pupils’ reading ages rise by an average 12 months in 20 hours’ pacey Butterfly literacy teaching. Since 1999 Butterfly classes have helped thousands of children avoid a life of poverty or crime - many have gone on to university!  Examples of where your money can go:

- £100 covers the cost of classroom hire for one Saturday

- £200 sponsors a child at a butterfly Saturday reading school for a year

- £500 covers the cost of one butterfly teacher training for a year
