Story

On July 10, the WU 2019 team of archaeologists and veterans will commemorate the Battle of Waterloo by doing public readings of personal & historical accounts, for 11 hours, at Hougoumont. By taking part in a relay reading in 2019, the story of Waterloo will be retold by individuals offering unique insights into this historical battle and how it's impact can be felt today. Most of the readers have never performed for the public before and the eleven hours exceeds even the most ambitious West End play. Long though it may be for a play, its a very short time for the incomprehensible number of lives lost and the effect the aftermath had on the course of European history. By sponsoring Reading to Remember, you support the Waterloo Uncovered team, whose archaeological discoveries are transforming our understanding of what happened at Waterloo as well as the lives of the soldiers and veterans doing the archaeology.
