Pseudomyxoma Survivor aims to raise awareness of PMP and appendix cancers, to provide emotional and practical support and information to survivors and their families on our website and online community. We are also dedicated to raising funds for research into this extremely rare disease.

Story

I'm running the Hackney Half Marathon in memory of my wonderful sister Bridget who lost her life last May to a rare cancer called PMP.

My wonderful sister Bridget was funny, adventurous, kind and totally  adored. She was a thunder bolt of energy and life. She never wasted a moment. The cruelty of losing her when she was only 37, when she had so much more life to live will scar our family very deeply.

Bridget's bravery and strength never had a day off, her graceful ability to keep putting one foot in front of another inspires me and made me want to challenge myself to run a half marathon this year.

So in honour of Bridget I have trained to run on the 20th May the 21k Hackney run, it won't be quick, and I'm sure it won't be pretty. An injury a few years back has left me with a metal plate in my leg that makes me less of an athlete than most of the participants but I'll give it everything I have, to respect and celebrate the memory of how fearless and incredible Bridge was everyday of her life.

I'll be raising  money for Pseudomyxoma Survivor, a charity who provide emotional support and practical advice to people struggling with the disease.

Thank you for all and any support.

Love Em x
