Story
On the 5/5/2015 our 5 week old daughter Ada was diagnosed with a rare and life threading liver condition called biliary atresia, 2 days later Ada had to undergo life saving surgery in a hope to save her liver. Although her operation was deemed successful the likelihood is that one day she will still need a liver transplant. As a mum when we were given Adas devastating diagnosis my world fell apart, I really struggled to accept this as it was not in my plan, I never in a million years expected this to happen to us, but it did. For a long time I struggled, and had to rely on family and friends and my amazing husband Michael to hold me up and get me through the darkest of days. I thought of nothing else other than Adas condition and always thought the worst, I somehow managed to lose me in all this and stopped caring about myself, not looking after myself properly, gaining weight and becoming very unfit!! 2 years on and after lots of help and support I am taking on a challenge that has been a dream of mine since being a little girl and aiming to complete the London marathon in April next year. I know it's not gonna be easy and I know I am going to have to put in a lot of hard work, I will also be doing the York 10k and York 10 mile this year to prepare me. As hard as this is it is nothing compared to what children like Ada go through, daily medication, regular blood tests, regular hospital admissions, live saving surgery, uncontrollable itching, extreme fatigue, just to mention a few. As a mum of a child with an incurable illness I feel so helpless at times, running the London marathon and challenging myself is my way of trying to help, by raising money for the children's liver disease foundation I am helping them get that little bit closer to finding that precious cure for Ada and her friends and enabling them to live a full filled life. These last few years have been a struggle but Ada has taught me so much, and shown me strength I did not know existed, please help me to help her and children like her by raising as much money as possible for an amazing cause x thank you for taking the time to read, any donation is greatly appreciated.
