Story
In October 2020, my kids permanently lost their Dad in terrible circumstances.
We are fortunate to have a strong network of positive male role models amongst our family and friends, who have risen to the challenge of filling that void, especially for my son, who was only 7 years old at the time. He suffers with crippling anxiety at times but with the support of my wonderful partner, Trev, and our family and friends, he will be supported through it.
Many are not so fortunate: In Reading and the surrounding areas, statistics show that roughly 1 in 2 boys will not be living with both parents by the time they reach 15 years old. The vast majority will be living with their mother and risk losing contact with their father. These boys will grow up to face far more challenges than your average boy. Unemployment, academic failure, depression, chronic illness, anxiety and poverty later in life are all far more likely for fatherless boys. So on Father's Day weekend 2023, Trev and I will be setting out to walk 100KM into Reading in just 24 hours, alongside others who want to make a positive difference. The ultimate challenge is to raise £100K to bring an end to the fatherless crisis. Please support Chapter2 as we seek to write hope into the fatherless story.
