Story
Many of you may know that my father died from cancer when I was four years old.
Fewer of you may know that my mum has also had cancer twice - thyroid cancer, one of the cancers with research funded by my chosen charity for this run, Oracle Cancer Trust. (www.oraclecancertrust.org)
I was lucky enough to work for Oracle for two years. In that time thousands of pounds was raised for cutting-edge head and neck cancer research work so I know firsthand the impact the charity can have.
Meeting head and neck cancer patients whose speaking, tasting and swallowing had been affected by their cancers and treatments reminded me of just how important research into kinder, more targeted cancer treatments is.
Cancer research can also save lives.
This will be my first half marathon and I've been pounding the pavements (and towpath) in preparation for the event. Evidence on social media (Strava... FB.. Instagram.. - feel free to give me a follow!).
Please consider supporting me in my efforts to raise funds for cancer research.
It is a cause about which I am so passionate and now, as a PhD cancer researcher myself, I appreciate more than ever what a difference funding makes in allowing scientists to unlock their ideas.
