Like so many other rescues, we reached a new crisis point here at Hope Rescue last year. We are thrilled to have an army of #TeamHope runners in the much awaited return of the Cardiff Half Marathon

Story

Hope Rescue will forever hold a special place in my heart after we adopted our pup Ash in April 2021. Despite not having the best start to life, Ash found his way to us after being cared for in his first few weeks by the incredible team at Hope. He has definitely completed our little family and now we can't imagine life without him.

Not all dogs are getting their happy endings though and it pains me to hear that Hope, like many other rescues, have now reached crisis point due to the huge number of dogs purchased during the pandemic. This is not likely to be a short-term issue and they really need our support.

As many of you know, I have been chipping away at becoming a runner - something I never thought possible when I began my couch to 5k journey back in Feb 2020. It hasn't been the easiest road (thanks to the countless injuries) but I have stuck with it because I actually enjoy it! In 2021, I ticked a few firsts off my list including a park run and a 10 mile run, but my next challenge really has to be my biggest yet - the Cardiff Half Marathon!!! Not only will this be my first ever race but it will be the longest distance I have ever attempted. With Ash as my training partner, i'm going to give it my absolute best shot and hopefully raise some ££'s along the way.

So here begins a winter of training and much hope that my dodgy knee will hold out....wish me luck!
