We are working with rare and lesser known cancer charities to raise awareness and tackle the impact of Covid-19, together. Cancer Doesn't Stop For Covid. Early diagnosis is the key to better outcomes for patients.

Story

Salivary Gland Cancer UK have joined forces with 19 other less common cancer charities to create a unique and exciting 20-day challenge starting on September 20th - December 20th  called 20for20.
I have committed to raising a minimum of £100 for #teamsgcuk by running, walking or cycling 5km per day for 20 consecutive days, which will total 100kms in memory of my mum.

144,600 people in England are diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer every year.

In 2003 my mum was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called an Adenoid Cystic Carcenoma, she underwent a gruelling round of radiotherapy at the BRI in Bristol which reduced the size but unfortunately in late 2006 she was given the devastating news that it was growing again and there were no more treatments available. She sadly passed away on 13th October 2007.

About the charity

There are over 23 rare salivary gland cancers. All have limited treatment options and poor outcomes. More research is desperately needed. Salivary Gland Cancer UK supports patients, families and friends, those treating patients and doing research. Collaboration to move things forward for us all.
