Story
About two years ago I started to seriously think about whether I could actually become a runner. Influenced and encouraged by many running friends I completed my first half marathon in January 2014, with the WDW Radio Running Team in Walt Disney World!
It has always been a dream of mine to complete the London Marathon and in 2015 that dream is coming true as I have been successful in securing a charity place with Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.
My goal is to raise over £2,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK. Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
This year Make-A-Wish UK will be granting (and funding) around 1,100 magical wishes - an average of 19 wishes a week. To achieve this they need to raise £7 million this year. At any one time their staff and volunteers are working on around 500 wishes.
The average cost of a single wish is £4,000. A life threatening condition can impact the whole family, so Make-A-Wish ensures all immediate family members have the opportunity to participate in the child's wish. These wishes can provide respite from thier normal routines of hospitals, and treatment, giving them as family the opportunity to have precious time together.
Thank you for all your support; let's grant some wishes :)
