I will be running 21km which is the height of Olympus Mons, the highest volcano on Mars. I have chosen to do this to raise money for Grove Cottage, a local charity that is very close to my heart. This amazing charity supports those with learning disabilities from age 3 months to adulthood and provides an environment to develop their potential, encourage lifelong friendships and provide much needed help and guidance to their families. 

Our family has experienced first hand the amazing support from all those who work at Grove Cottage and they have made a real difference in our lives. Our daughter Lily is autistic and attends the Grove Cottage nursery. Lily has greatly benefited from the specialist care that the amazing staff provide and have catered for her unique needs. I myself have received much-needed guidance amidst such a confusing time of paperwork and doctors referrals, which is sadly a familiar situation for many parents of additional needs children.

For Grove Cottage to provide such an incredible service they need a minimum of £400k every year to operate, which mostly comes from fundraising within the community. I would like the opportunity to do something that can help towards this annual cost and contribute to Grove Cottage.

*Why Olympus Mons? Lily’s older brother Ethan is Space-mad and has been singing songs about the solar system, Mars in particular, throughout lockdown-so it seemed a rather fitting distance to run.
