Story
During the first lockdown one of my best friends came to see me. She had come to let us know the most devastating and heart-breaking news that her eldest son Liam had not wanted to live any more, and had taken his own life.
Liam was a genuinely lovely lad, who like many young men, had experienced some struggles over the years, especially through his teens. Liam could not find his way out of the darkness that overcame him, and could not see another way out. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends, and never, ever forgotten. His impact has been everlasting, both in his life and his death.
I wanted to challenge myself in my 40th year by running a marathon. It seemed fitting to dedicate it to Liam, and to support a charity that would help others who find themselves in situations like his. I chose Brighton as the water was always a big part of Liam’s life, so to be by the sea felt important.
Liam’s Mum has chosen CALM as the charity she would like me to support in Liam’s memory. The work that they do is absolutely vital, and can make a huge difference to the lives of individuals, families and friends nationwide.
Please help me to support this charities essential work, and honour Liam’s memory. Thank you ❤️
