Story
Myself and Lauren will be heading to Malawi this summer to teach in the school, please help us make a difference by making a donation to The Sparkle Malawi Foundation.
There mission is to provide nutrition, medical support, education and sustainability to improve the life chances of vulnerable children in Malawi.
Nutrition:
Through the support of Mary’s Meals Malawi they are able to provide all of the nursery children with breakfast at 8am every morning. Alongside this, the Sparkle feeding programme offers a minimum of two nutrient and energy dense meals each day and continuous access to clean and safe drinking water to all vulnerable children their care. They are also able to grow their own food to widen the variety of options to the children including locally grown, nutrient rich ingredients straight from the garden.
Education:
The Sparkle Early Childhood Development Programme mixes the Montessori vision with the national Early Childhood Development structure to provide an educational, fun and creative English speaking environment for Sparkle’s under sixes. Sparkle runs several workshops throughout the year educating communities on human rights, independence, the fight against gender-based violence, adult literacy, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, infection and prevention, HIV awareness, family planning, entrepreneurship, and permaculture.
Medical support:
The Sparkle Clinic is certified by the Malawian Health Department and the medical team provide comprehensive clinic services to our Sparkle community. Sparkle offers assistance with malaria, malnutrition, psychological trauma, bereavement, illness, worms, physical injuries, HIV education and awareness, vaccinations, hygiene and sex education.
Sustainability:
Sparkle have been able to create small farming projects to grow their own vegetables, community enterprise opportunities and countless partnerships which collectively have reduced the running costs of sparkle.
