Emma's 2022 London Marathon for Make-A-Wish

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
On my 19th birthday my 5 year old brother Stephen died, having had
rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer which most often affects children. A few years ago, I became a Wish Visitor volunteer for Make-A-Wish as I wanted to help families in NI who were going through the type of struggles that we went through and I wanted to try to help bring smiles and hope to children with critical illness. Wish Visitor volunteers spend time with the wish child and their family in order to discover what wish would be the most exciting for each individual wee child. This year I've signed up to run the London Marathon in memory of Stephen and to fundraise for Make-A-Wish as there are always children waiting to have their wish granted.
I am extremely grateful for anything you can give towards this fundraising and it means a lot to me and to my family but most of all to the children who will smile because of it.
Make-A-Wish® UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
