Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
As most of you know I have a blood cancer called MDS which I am currently receiving chemotherapy for. Our patient support charity had some spare places going for the Great North Run...... and I thought: "What the heck? Who wouldn't want to run 13.1 miles in between doses of chemo???!"
My story with MDS/AML is a long one. After treatment for Aplastic anemia in 2005 I was then diagnosed with MDS in 2011. Since then I have had treatment roughly every 2 years including : 2 stem cell transplants, inpatient chemo and outpatient chemo.
MDS is a very rare blood cancer and the small charity MDS UK provides patients with support. Helping them to understand their disease and treatment options. Sophie (CEO of company) and the community has been invaluable support to me throughout my MDS journey and I am keen for them to have the funds to be able to continue this support for other patients.
