Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three times a year, 12 volunteers from Ogilvy head out to Uganda for a week to help with valuable projects for the local community.
I will be heading out it the Southern Ugandan town of Buikwe at the end of February to get my hands dirty working on a project for the local community. I need to raise £1500 for our charity to cover the cost of the trip and provide much-needed funds for this vital project.
We’re currently building a secondary school for 450 kids in Buikwe. This is a major project, but it’s just the beginning. We hope to do much, much more. We’re looking to build an orphanage, fund new farm machinery and bore a well.
And it really will make a difference. We chose to build a secondary school because there simply aren’t enough schools in Uganda, and the children who do manage to get an education usually have to leave at 14 and start labouring to support their families. Hopefully, this secondary school will help provide the kids of Buikwe with more opportunities. And with your help, we can continue to affect positive change and transform the lives of even more people
This is an amazing legacy to be involved with. It’s not humanitarian PR, a tax-evasion scheme or a feel-good gesture. It has a use-value, regardless of who knows about it. It’s democratic, too. Everyone from account executive to chief executive can be – and is – involved. And it’s a sustainable project. We’ve made sure we’re partnered with an established charity in International Need, and that we’re working in a part of the world where they have a strong, nurturing presence. Longevity and stability are vital.
It’s also an exciting communications challenge. Trying to drive fundraising and awareness across the Ogilvy Group, friends and family we need to raise as much money as we can. We are looking to find increasingly innovative and imaginative ways to break through, to engage and recruit. This way, we can harness the power and the resources of the Ogilvy Group to make a real difference.
