We are parents of children attending Clifton Hill special school. Our role is to enhance the environment and experience of our children at our school by raising funds. We organise events and foster a good communication and collaboration between both parents and teachers and the whole school community. We play a crucial role in building a strong school community by; - Organising social events for parents, carers, teachers and students. - Facilitating communication between parents and the school. - Encouraging parent involvement in school activities. We support school in various ways, including; - Advocating for the needs of students and the school. - Providing volunteers for school events and activities. - Working with the school administration to improve the learning environment. We are proud of our achievements to date and we know we are making a real difference to the overall experience of our children at this truly fantastic school.

Story

<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p> <div><span style="font-size: small;">On Saturday 12th May I will be jumping (terrified, with my eyes shut and mouth open!!) 10,000ft out of a plane strapped to a total stranger!!! Why ??? To raise money for my sons school, Clifton Hill Special School, Caterham, Surrey. </span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;">My son <span style="color: #000000;">Thomas</span> is 12 ,confident, sociable, has a wicked sense of humour, boundless energy and a kindness that touches everyone. however his world is restricted to just 5 verbal sounds, his dexterity is poor so he finds signing difficult and his general learning is slow and concentration poor due to suffering epileptic seizures. However, his potential is finally being realised, believed in and in turn challenged and it is thanks to the dedication and teaching methods used at Clifton Hill School.</span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;">The School's ethos is to assess each pupil as an individual, </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">promote exciting and meaningful learning experiences, and encompass the emotional and physical well being of the individual, they believe in creating inclusive opportunities for students across the curriculum. </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">The money I raise (hurtling towards earth at 100 miles an hour) is going towards the ongoing projects F.O.C.H ( Friends of Clifton Hill, Charity No.270187) support. This year one of the projects FOCH are supporting is the development of ipad communication aids, something which Tom would personally benefit from. </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">In addition part of every childs weekly timetable is to go into the community to encourage and develop 'life skills'. To achieve this the school have to have transport and FOCH are responsible for the cost of the upkeep of the mini bus that transport the children.</span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Over the next couple of years FOCH will also be supporting the exciting project of the complete rebuild/refurbishment of a muliti sensory room, this is an enormous undertaking so every penny will count. </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">The very nature of a special school means resources are stretched to their limits,as are the staff and families involved!!!!! FOCH are involved in providing many additional resources within the class room and supporting fun and social activities for students and their families and every penny that comes in will make a tangible difference to our projects.</span></span></span></span></div> <p><span style="font-size: small;">Please sponsor me. This is a very special school and my son is a very special young man.</span></p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
