The big hair cut! · 5 March 2018

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

As a primary school teacher working with young children every day, I know how much it would effect a child or young adult to lose their hair due to an illness. I heard about The Little Princess Trust and the amazing work that they do to make this very hard time for the child themselves and their families, a little easier. I therefore decided to grow my hair and not only donate this, but to try and raise the £350-£500 that it costs to make a wig.

It has taken a painstaking 15 months to grow my hair and “The Big Chop” is happening at my school on Tuesday 13th March in a school assembly with the pupils and parents all watching and a local press reporter too! One of my parents is kindly offering their time and skills to actually cut and style my hair, with one lucky pupil will be drawn to make the last cut.

If you feel that you would like to help me make a difference to a child or young adult, in what must be one of the most traumatic times in their young lives, please pledge a donation, no matter how small. Your help will be hugely appreciated.

Thank you
Emma
