Emma's Birthday · 16 May 2022

Health and Hope bring work to envision and empower remote communities in western Myanmar (Burma) to become thriving and self-developed. Our work is centred around the key areas of health, education, livelihoods and humanitarian relief.

Story

To mark my 50th birthday I'm encouraging friends and family to consider making a donation, however small, to one or more of three fantastic charities I am currently involved with.

I am also fortunate to have the opportunity to cycle 'LEJOG' - Land's End to John O'Groats during the last two weeks of June.  I'm hoping this might serve as an added incentive for donations!

Health and Hope's mission is to bring hope, relief of poverty, and development to the most vulnerable rural communities in Myanmar (Burma), particularly in and around Chin State. We aim to do this by building the capacity of local partners and empowering communities to deliver health, education, food security and livelihood programmes.

Since the military coup in February 2021, the situation has been particularly challenging.  Much of our current work is focused on supporting people and communities displaced by the political unrest.

I am currently a Trustee with Health and Hope UK.
