On the 25th of September (whether permitting), I will doing a parachute, along with lots of my family. It’s something we are doing as a group; I had initially thought about doing it for charity, but then decided it felt too much like I would be raising money for selfish reasons, however so many people have asked if I'm doing it for charity it seems like the perfect opportunity to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. As I have already paid for the jump and therefore all the money would be going straight to the charity. As many of you will know my Granddad suffered with dementia and passed away as a result of this in March.

Not only does the Alzheimer's society invest money into important research in to the causes and treatments for dementia, they also provide information and support for both people with dementia and their carers. Caring for someone you love with dementia is difficult, scary and sad; it’s important that families/carers have supportive information so that they can enjoy and appreciate their loved one as much as possible. We had some lovely times with my granddad during his illness and these times make the harder times bearable.

The Charity provide community support for dementia clients in the community with over 2000 services over England, Wales and Northern Ireland; for further information about the charity and how the money raised will be used please go to http://www.alzheimers.org.uk

Dementia seems to affect nearly every family so I’m sure the majority will know how cruel it can be. I could go on for ages about the illness and of course my Granddad Bernard, but I’ll spare you all from that!
