Deutsche Bank ArcelorMittal Orbit Abseil · 20 April 2017 ·

Abseiling down the UK's tallest sculpture to help give every autistic person the chance of a healthy and happy life, and to ensure all children no longer suffer in institutional care.

Story

In a moment of madness I signed up to do an 80m (262 ft) free-fall abseil from the Arcelormittal Orbit on the 21st of May!! Apparently there's no turning back now, the only way out is over the edge in a very dodgy looking harness!!!

It is, at least, for two very good cause's, Autistica and Hope and Homes for Children. To give a little info about these charities...

Autistica - Autism is a lifelong development disorder, 1 in 4 children will speak few or no words and only 15% will go on to work full-time. This fundraising will go towards world-class research to address the biggest challenges that families face and transform the lives of the 1 in 100 children in the UK living with the condition.

Hope and Homes for Children - Over 8 million children confined to orphanages and other forms of institutional care around the world are denied a safe and loving family to grow up in. The institutions do not always protect and often harm these children, they can be subject to high-levels of abuse and neglect.  Hope and Homes for Children are recognised as global experts in deinstitutionalisation. By closing orphanages, supporting children into loving families and preventing family breakdown they are working to support better care for these vulnerable children.

Every small donation helps and as both of these charities are Deutsche Bank Charities of the Year, every penny donated will be matched by DB!

Thank you :)
