Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A few months ago i watched a documentary about children in Africa, as did many others. My husband and I were astonished to discover that is costs just £2 a year to send a child to School. We then worked out just how much money we dwindle a month and decided it would be better spent on these Children and the SOS Children's Villages charity.
Below is some information on the charity to give you an idea of who they are and what they do. For more information please visit http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/
At SOS Children, they believe all children should belong to a family which is why they look after children who have lost their parents through war, famine, disease or poverty.
Its so simple, they take groups of seven to ten (less in the developed world) children alone and put them together with a permanent resident SOS mother to make a family for life. They group a dozen or so SOS families like this together in a Village and then work out from this centre to try to help the wider community with the facilities needed. If there is no adequate medical care, they provide it, if no school they build one, if there are families on the edge nearby (child headed families etc) they support them. The strategic goal for the next eight years is to help a million child sponsors give a million children a family life. Of these, one hundred thousand children will be given a new family and home in an SOS Children's Village. Nine hundred thousand children, who might otherwise be street children, will be able to grow up within their own (extended) family with our support.
Please help me to make a difference in these children's' lives
