Emma’s 100 Miles in July for Islastones · 27 June 2020

Raises funds to help fight childhood cancer in particular but not exclusively DIPG (very rare type of a terminal brain tumour) by providing grants to established research institutions and grants towards facilities and holidays’ to help support families that are and have experienced childhood cancer

Story

As Emma is entering the last year of her 30’s in July, she’s decided it’s time to shed the lockdown weight & get fit before the big 40 next year and John decided he better join her!

We have set ourselves a challenge to walk 100 miles each in the month.  Sadly, July is also the anniversary of the passing away of an amazing little girl so we wanted to raise some money in her memory & the legacy she created - see her story below.

Any donation,  no matter how small is appreciated - thank you.

Isla Tansey, a 7-year old girl from Hinckley, she was diagnosed with DIPG in October 2017. She & her family started a phenomenal worldwide stone decorating movement called #Islastones in March 2018. which brings communities together worldwide.Sadly, Isla passed away on 10 July 2018. Isla’s family wants to share and raise awareness of this untreatable childhood cancer as there is very little funding into this area of research despite 80% of cases of cases of all brain tumours being in children between the ages of 5-9 years.
