Story
My lovely Mom was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis in 2016. Sarcoidosis is an auto immune disease that can affect any part of the body. It causes inflammation, called granulomas, to form and cause an array of problems. In my Mom's case, the granulomas have caused permanent fibrosis in the lungs, resulting in shortness of breath that sadly won't get any better. There is currently no cure for Sarcoidosis...the only treatment available focuses on reducing the spread of granulomas with long term steroids, which unfortunately come with a load of rubbish side effects.
SarcoidosisUK is a small charity that receives no government funding. They are working hard to raise awareness of the disease and work towards a possible cure. It is amongst the largest sarcoidosis research funders, and is dedicated to funding at least one major piece of research per year, and will continue to do this until a cure is found.
