Story
Update: we did it! And you can still donate to this incredible cause.
It wasn’t easy - I injured my knee on 5 April so my last training session before the event was 3 April. Operation Motivation involved Robin sneaking little speakers under my and Julia’s bike saddles and launching us off the Start Line to Queen singing “I want to ride my bicycle”. Our fellow cyclists seemed to enjoy it, not sure how the neighbours felt, since it was 7.20am! 🚴🏻♀️ Despite ankle and knee supports, plus trusty trekking poles, the hike was tough. My amazing teammates would have been much faster without me, but they stuck by me every step of the way. Biggest regret? I should have packed a snorkel 🤿 into my transition bag for the paddle. Those of you who saw me squelching off to change know what I mean… 🦆 It was a great day, lots of fantastic memories, and the bath in Epsom salts back at base was bliss. Congratulations to the organisers (although we need to talk about that last cycling hill) and most importantly to Captain Robin, Julia and Paul. You guys are awesome! Sam, Julian, shout-out to you, too 😉

I'm part of Team Off the Leash taking on Race the Sun South Downs for children's charity Action Medical Research.
In April, Julia, Robin, Paul and I will be setting off at sunrise to bike, hike and paddle around a challenging course in a race against the sun.
I'm racing in aid of children's charity, Action Medical Research. They have spent over 70 years funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children, and young people.
By supporting our team you will be helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.
Thank you so much for your support.
