So I am getting married in June! And I figured I have been on lots of stags and times may be bit tough for folk this year. So instead of waking up in a gutter for my stag, I will run a 10K! The race will be at Colchester zoo, in May. I am hoping some of the money that might have been spent on Booze and hotels, Can go someway to helping a great local charity.
I have chosen to run for the Colchester branch of the Samaritans, us men are terrible at talking and who knows when we might need them. The charity in Colchester is staffed entirely by volunteers and its costs around £60k a year to keep the lines running and the building open for those that need it.
Now dig deep into that hotel, flights and booze money and lets see what we can achieve. I have set a target of £1k, but I would love to smash this if we can.
Fancy joining me on the run and helping to raise even more, just let me know. I have already roped my dad and brothers in, it would be great if some of you could join and help give the fundraising some momentum. The race takes place at 9AM and the runner gets free entry to the zoo for the day, so it may be a great time to take the family out.

"The Colchester branch of Samaritans first opened its doors in May 1964, supporting the community in Colchester and the surrounding areas. We currently have over 100 listening volunteers, some having been with us for over 40 years. We are open for around 70% of the hours in a week including through the night, supporting callers who contact us suffering with emotional distress and despair. Like all branches we rely entirely on donations from the public and other organisations. Your donations will help us stay open year-round."
