ABOUT US....

Three of us don't know how we ended up needing a Just Giving Page for the Edinburgh Marathon.....Karen said something about running being fun and a good way to get fit. She also mentioned it being a great way to support a charity, so the rest of us went along with it! Anyway, here we are, 6 months later with miles and miles clocked up on our trainers. Not sure we all agree about the 'running being fun' bit but it's certainly been satisfying to see our distances improve from running round the village to running to a completely different village....and back!

We've had 'plantar facitis', pneumonia, sore hips and blisters to contend with but we're running for a great charity based in Edinburgh which helps ex-servicemen and women face the hurdles of returning from war, and that has helped us stay focussed.

Please help us to support them by sponsoring us to get round the Marathon.

Thanks
Emily, Karen, Anne & Steph

ABOUT OUR CHOSEN CHARITY....

Corporal Mark Wright, 27, a paratrooper with the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment stationed in Helmand Province, Southern Afghanistan, was killed in action on September 6th 2006. Mark entered a minefield in an extraordinary attempt to save the lives of other injured soldiers, but sadly Mark lost his life during the incident. Mark was awarded the George Cross, one of the highest awards in the UK for acts of gallantry.

We know that war and conflict are extremely stressful events, and that the life threatening events associated with combat often have detrimental effects on not only the physical, but also the mental, social and emotional health and well being of our serving men and women.  Therefore the Mark Wright Project is dedicated to providing support and services to help ex service men and women in overcoming post conflict issues.
