Story

Enable Therapy Services is an independent rehabilitation and vocational case management company based in Leeds: https://www.enabletherapyservices.co.uk/ supporting clients with complex care needs including brain injury or illness.  We support a number of charitable causes, one of these being the Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Trust and Daniel Yorath House.

As a rehabilitation company, we often see the devastation sustaining a brain injury can have on an individual and their families and we provide case management services to a wide range of clients from children through to older adults across the whole of the UK.

We have a dedicated service to supporting clients with brain injuries to live their lives to the fullest following an accident and therefore, as a charity, the Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Trust and Daniel Yorath House (working under the umbrella of the Disabilities Trust) are a worthwhile cause to support with raising charitable funds.

As such, to of our Occupational Therapists and Case Managers have decided to take on the mammoth task of running the London Marathon 2019 in aid of the Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Trust.  Holly and Jenny hope to raise a huge £3000 in order to help the charity to support people with Brain Injuries both locally at Daniel Yorath House in Leeds, and also nationally as part of the wider charity.

The Brain Injuries Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) is the UK's leading charity in brain injury rehabilitation.  They offer specialist assessment and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities resulting from a brain injury.  This includes traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke and other forms of acquired brain injury (ABI).  Founded in 1991, BIRT provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation at 15 centres across England, Scotland and Wales.  The multi-disciplinary teams at their rehabilitation centres support people with a brain injury to function as independently as possible, developing their lives as they choose and participate in the wider community.

Situation close to the city of Leeds, Daniel Yorath House is one of these specialist neurobehavioural rehabilitation centres for people with an acquired brain injury.  Opened in 1992, it was one of the first assessment and rehabilitation centres for brain injury in the UK.  IT forms part of the nationwide network of rehabilitation support services provided by the BIRT.  We are also keen to support Daniel Yorath House in particular which is local to Enable Therapy Services in Leeds.

Over a million people in the UK are living with the effects of a long-term brain injury making services like BIRT and Daniel Yorath House essential in supporting people to improve their quality of life.

As a team here at ETS we hope to hold a variety of fund raising events leading up to the Marathon next year so watch this space to see what we have planned and how we are doing with our overall fundraising target of £3000.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported Holly and Jenny so far with charitable donations, words of encouragement and advice, and also thank you for all of your support to come - we will be there at the finish line to congratulate them!
