Vartry 100 mile race · 3 April 2015

We are a registered Charity CRA 20080518 CHY 20300, set up to rescue and re-home cast-off greyhounds and lurchers. All of our dogs are neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. We always have vets bills, food bills, kenneling and and transport costs, so all support is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running my first 100 mile race on April 3rd this year, and hope to raise some much needed funds for 'Great Hounds In Need' to support the great voluntary work they do in rescuing and re-homing abandoned, unwanted and abused greyhounds and lurchers in Ireland.

The beautiful lurcher in the photo below came to us from Great Hounds In Need after being found abandoned with a badly broken leg. When they found her GHIN paid all of her medical bills, nursed her back to health and ensured she found her forever home. That home was with us where she quickly became part of the family.

Unfortunately in Ireland, each new week brings another batch of sighthound dogs which need to be rescued from the streets or from the pounds where they are put to sleep for no other reason than that they have no homes to go to - dogs discarded by uncaring owners. Sighthounds can normally live up to 14 years, in Ireland the majority only reach 3 or 4 years old.

Any help you can give by supporting me in my 100 mile challenge is greatly appreciated and will help Great Hounds In Need to save more of these beautiful dogs before it's too late.
