Wave Sweepers - Stand Up Paddle Board to Warren Point Lighthouse · 7 September 2019

Lighthouse is a life saving organisation committed to the prevention of suicide; the promotion of positive mental health and the provision of support services to families who have been bereaved by suicide. We provide a beacon of hope to individuals, families and communities.

Story

I plan to Stand Up Paddleboard for 6 hours up the Foyle Estuary from the Walled City to the Warren Point Lighthouse before the tide turns on Saturday the 7th September.

I'm raising money for Lighthouse, a Charity that works to prevent suicide and provides a beacon of hope to those affected by suicide. As a Trustee and member of the board I've seen firsthand the difference the staff team make.  I also know how much every penny raised for them makes a genuine difference. I’ll be paddling as part of the Wave Sweepers Event organised by Far and Wild on behalf of OutdoordadNI in September.

Wave Sweepers is a Stand Up Paddle Board Challenge event linking the Foyle Estuary to Lough Foyle. Wave Sweeper was the reported name of Mananan McLir's boat, the Irish God of the Sea, whose son Feabhail gives the Foyle its historic name.
