Story
I’ve taken on the challenge of cycling over 135 miles coast to coast in support of Endometriosis.
This may not sound like a lot to most people but I’m not a seasoned cyclist, not built for speed, and definitely not someone who casually rides huge distances. This is going to mean proper training, sore legs, and pushing myself well outside my comfort zone. When I think about what so many people live with every single day because of endometriosis, my challenge feels small in comparison.
I’m doing this ride for my daughter.
She lived with symptoms for nine years before finally getting a diagnosis. That was nine years of pain being brushed off, questions without answers, and trying to carry on with life while something serious was happening inside her body.
In the past six months alone, she has had two surgeries for endometriosis. I’ve seen the recovery, the exhaustion, the worry before procedures, and how much strength it takes just to keep going. As a parent, it’s incredibly hard to watch your child go through that and know you can’t fix it.
Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, yet it is still widely misunderstood and takes far too long to diagnose. Too many people are told their pain is just part of being a woman, when in reality it is a lifelong chronic illness.
I’m doing this ride to turn helplessness into action. Every mile I cycle is for my daughter and for everyone living with endometriosis.
Endometriosis UK provides vital support and information, and works to improve awareness and care so people do not have to fight so hard just to be believed.
If you are able to donate, thank you. If not, sharing this page means just as much.
Let’s help make endometriosis better understood, better treated, and taken seriously. 💛
