As part of one of our courses at Wheaton College (MA), we have been working closely with Tuesday's Children to create a crowdfunding campaign for them. Specifically, we are looking to fundraise for the Youth Mentoring program. This program pairs gold star children with trained mentors who serve as a support system for the child. Any donations made will go directly towards this mentoring program.
After the devastation of 9/11, Tuesday’s Children was created to help the many kids that tragically lost a parent that day and promised to always stand by them. Today, 18 years later, Tuesday’s Children has continued to keep its promise to those families. Located in New York City, the organization has also grown to help those who lost a loved one to war or domestic terror.
Much of this is done through their Military Mentoring program. The program was created so that kids could have support from a long-term adult role model, giving them someone to look to not only for advice and help, but also someone to share experiences with. Mentors are screened and trained to ensure that they are a good match for the children that they work with. Once matched, the pairs meet twice monthly to participate in activities or to provide the child with support towards their goals and milestones. Studies show that mentoring programs like Tuesday’s Children’s program can help kids become more active and less likely to engage in risky behaviors.
Tuesday’s Children represents healing for both today and tomorrow, please consider donating below or volunteering to become a mentor today. For just a couple of dollars you can help Tuesday’s Children keep its promise.
