My name is Joe and I was first diagnosed with refractory multifocal epilepsy at the age of 15. I have endured several years of trying different medications and countless EEG video telemetry procedures. At present I am continuing to face difficulties managing my seizures.

I would like to do this 5k as a way to spread awareness about what it is like to live with epilepsy and raise funds for research aimed at developing further treatments for individuals who are treatment-resistant like myself. 

I have started a community support group called EPIC (Epilepsy Partners in Care) that will aim to be a safe place for individuals in the community living with epilepsy looking for support.
