Finley’s walk - 365 · 11 January 2023

We a local charity preschool run by a parent comitee. We provide care and education for children aged between 2-5. We rely upon fundraising to provide children with engaging resources to further their early years education.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be walking 20 miles a week for a year

Why?

In Finley’s words: “ I want to do this challenge for St Nicholas Pre-school because they have children with Autism and I think they need toys that will help them with their Autism. So please can you donate money so we can be a community and help”

Now more of an explanation: I felt it would be good for Finley to work on and towards something in 2023 and in turn raise money for a good cause. After a little bit of thinking Finley decided on St Nicholas pre-school in Hurst where his cousins, Jackson and Sienna attend.

Jackson and Sienna have been on the Autism pathway for a couple of years, Jackson having recently received his ‘official’ diagnosis. For any child with a disability then it comes with its own challenges and needs that need to be met.

With its amazing reputation and a number of recommendations St Nicholas pre school was top of the list when Shelley was looking for an early years setting for Jackson to attend. Even though it isn’t ‘on the doorstep’ for Shelley then the care and support Jackson receives makes the  journey well worth it. The initial draw was the outside space it had to offer. Any one who has ever met Jackson will know how much he loves to run, his love for water, his need to be free and his need for space. He joined the nursery and fitted right in. The staff fell in love with him and the feeling was mutual. Since then he has thrived. And in turn so has Sienna since joining.

St Nicholas is a main stream pre-school but open their arms wide to all children of differing abilities. The staff have and continue to go above and beyond and adhere to all children's needs within their setting.

The reason for Finley’s fundraising challenge is to provide them with a bit of extra money to help them buy some resources for children with additional needs, which will be there for years to come even after Jackson and sienna move on.

So please give where you can and help support Finley in his year long challenge ❤️
