Story
On 15 July 2010, Ed and I will fly to Tanzania and set about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the Worlds tallest free-standing mountain, and the highest mountain on the African continent.
Standing at 19,341 feet, Kilimanjaro is a little higher than the last climb we took on together (Snaefell: 2,037 feet)! Providing not only a physically demanding personal challenge but also the chance to raise money for a deserving charity, the hard work will certainly be worth it.
With most climbs of Kilimanjaro, donations go towards the cost of the trip, but that won't be the case here. We have paid for the cost of the trip, and our travel, ourselves - therefore every penny you donate will go towards helping The Pahar Trust, and changing the lives of needy children.
The Pahar Trust was established in 1992, with a main focus of raising the funds necessary for, and coordinating the construction of, schools in remote areas of East and West Nepal. The original goal of the trust was to provide education for 10,000 children, and with over 9,000 currently benefiting, we'd like to make a big push to help them reach their target.
The impact of a new, safe school in a village community is incredible. Not only resulting in higher exam results than Nepalese state schools, the school will also provide a foundation for community activities and significantly improve the standard of living.
Ed's mum Margaret has been involved with The Pahar Trust for the last decade, and through visits to Nepal in 2003, 2006 and 2007, they've seen the hard work of the Trust first hand. Seeing the children benefiting from the new schools, was an emotional experience for both, as can be seen from the photos (coming soon).
Please help us raise some money to provide education for these children.
Since a school is a gift that keeps on giving, your donations now will have an impact for years to come.

Thank you so much.
