In December my brother and I visited Ypres on the 100th anniversary of our grandfather being killed, in battle, at Paschaendale, in the 1st World War. We laid poppies at the Tyne Cott Cemetery, and a wreath at Menin Gate. On the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1st World War I thought it would be fitting to honour all those who gave up so much by laying 100 poppies in their memory throughout Hertfordshire, while at the same time raising money for the Royal British Legion. I will be either cycling or walking to each War Memorial, between now and Remembrance Sunday, and given the size of Hertfordshire, and the remoteness of many of the villages this will be a hard physical challenge.
