On the evening of 4 August 2019 Eric Beck passed away at the age of 84. 

He dedicated his life and career to the National Health Service and was a passionate believer in socialised healthcare for all. He worked as a physician and gastroenterologist at the Whittington for over 35 years and in his last year was also, unfortunately, a frequent patient at the hospital. 

In lieu of flowers the family are requesting donations to the Whittington Charitable foundation, and the hospital and principles he loved so dearly.

The Whittington Health NHS Trust, cares for over 500,000 people and is home to over 4,000 staff. The Whittington Hospital Charitable Fund supports and funds care that the NHS is not able to provide, in particular medical equipment and support for patients and staff, as well as improving facilities for the benefit of patients, staff and the wider community.

Eric's funeral will be held at 2pm on Monday 2nd September at the Golder's Green Crematorium with food and drinks afterwards at Lauderdale House in Highgate.
