About me. My name is Ernie, I am 43,  I live and work in Scotland in the small border town of Gretna where I'm a single dad.

Why do I want to run the Dumfries Half Marathon etc?                                                                                             When I was 25 my first child was born and a month later I ran the Dumfries half Marathon in 93 minutes. That was the last time I ran a race but have vowed to do it again. It would be a great achievement to run it now 18 years later in the same time and as an example to all three of my kids. I've always said "I am going to run a Marathon one day" it has been my dream since then really. Now I have a confirmed place in Edinburgh.

Why did I choose to run for the CancerResearchUK?
I researched many charities but just kept coming back to this one, not least because Cancer affects too many lives, but the professionalism of CancerResearchUK impressed me no end. I'm very commited to this and have been training since March 2009. To those living with this I will be thinking of you when I run.

I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to my family, everyone at work, and all the online buddies who have sponsored me so far. You have all been very supportive and I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family. Also to those people who I don't know personally yet have taken the time to sponsor me and raise a fantastic sum for Cancer Research UK. I am truly grateful. THANK YOU.
