Story
Next April, I'll be running the London Marathon in support of Leukaemia Care a cause that means a lot to me and my family.
One of the biggest reasons I'm doing this is for my father in law Tony or as I always called him, Big T. We lost him on June 27th this year after a short illness to cancer, and its hard to put it into words just how much he meant to us all. Tony was the kind of man who lit up a room and would have been the first to get behind something like this. I know this charity, and the fight against cancer, would have meant a great deal to him.
The reason behind choosing to support this charity is a few years ago, our beautiful niece Rosalyn Tony's granddaughter was diagnosed with leukaemia, and her strength has inspired me to do what I can do to help others facing the same fight. Thankfully with the help, support, and care of this charity Rosalyn was in Remission back in 2022. And today she is back to being a healthy thirteen year old, a remarkable, strong, inspiring young lady who we all adore and love.
Unfortunately one regret, I never had the opportunity to tell Tony about getting a place to run the London marathon for the family to show strength and togetherness in the fight against his cancer, as his health deteriorated. We all know he would approve of this charity and be so proud.
Another reason for choosing this charity was my best friend lost his wonderful Mum many years ago to a blood cancer which was heartbreaking watching him and his family suffer during her battle after her passing. These loses are a constant reminder of why we need better treatments, more research, and one day, a cure.
Finally I will also be dedicating the day/event to my grandparents who I have sadly lost over the last few years Terry and Sheila Hutchings and Janet Mist, plus all my close friends/family who have lost loved ones.
By taking on the challenge of 26.2 miles, I'm aiming to raise vital funds for those battling leukaemia and other cancers, and to honour the memory of Big T and all the loved ones we have lost.
In the lead up to the marathon we will be hosting various charity events to raise even more for this cause, details will follow soon.
if you can, please consider donating. Every pound raised will go towards life saving research and helping families like ours.
Thank you for your support it means the world to me.
