Cancer is one of the UK's biggest killers taking approximately 33580 lives every year, that's 92 a day, and devestating the lives of the millions of friends and family members left behind.
UK escape artist Roslyn Walker suffered yet another loss from cancer this Christmas with the death of his mother-in-law, Elaine Grainger, who had been fighting the disease since 1998.
Roslyn said: "Cancer is one of those illnesses that effects everybody, not just the patient.
"Something has to be done to try and prevent others going through the same pain as we have".
In his own crusade to help in the fight against cancer Roslyn has planned a series of daring escapes that he will attempt through out the year.
The first escape will be from a regulation, maximum security strait jacket whilst underwater and is scheduled for March 2005 in Bristol. Roslyn said: "This time of year is important because it symbolises rebirth and new life. "It also marks my own 24th birthday and the birth of Harry Houdini".
