Story
My name is Esme and on Thursday 16th June at 5pm, I will be donating my hair to The Princess Trust. Harriet the owner of Hevans in Stratford Upon Avon will be doing the chop!
Just over 10 years ago I had my second stem cell transplant and thanks to the selfless act of my donor Andreas, I am still here today.
Over the years my parents, my brother Jack and their friends have raised money for different charities, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Children with Cancer, Anthony Nolan and DKMS to name a few. This time, I’ve chosen the charity I’d like to raise money for, Make A Wish, as what they did for me and my family and what they do for so many children and their families, is grant the most magical wish that will never be forgotten.
8 years ago Make A Wish granted me the most amazing wish. I got to meet the ‘real’ Mickey Mouse and swim with dolphins. Everything about that wish was like a dream. The place we stayed in, Give Kids the World, was just phenomenal, and the days we had at the Disney parks and Discovery Cove, were just amazing!
I’ve chosen to donate my hair to The Princess Trust as, although I didn’t want a wig (I was only 3 and it didn’t bother me all that much), now at 14 I can’t imagine what it would feel like to lose your hair at such a challenging and difficult stage in your life. Having lost my hair twice, I do love it, but now I’m ready to donate it in the hope that it will make someone going through their own difficult journey feel better.
If you can spare a penny or two I would be so grateful for your donation.
Thank you!
Make-A-Wish® UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
