Story
Thank you for taking time to visit my JustGiving page.
My lovely Grandma passed away from oeseophageal cancer in 2012. She was the centre of our family and everyone who met her loved her. As it is 10 years since my Grandma passed, I wanted to take on a challenge in her memory and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Challenge
In June 2022, I’m going to be Riding Against Cancer. Along with the Riding Against Cancer team, I will be cycling almost 600 km in 6 days across Scotland. The route begins in Glasgow and goes through Stirling, Edinburgh, Perth, St Andrews, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverurie and Peterhead, ending in Ellon.
I started road cycling during lockdown, where my first ‘long’ bike ride was without a helmet and on the heavy hybrid bike I got for my 10th birthday. Thankfully I’ve come a long way since then! My longest ride to date is a solo 100 km cycle from Battersea to Windsor and back, so cycling nearly 100 km every day for 6 days in a row is going to be a big challenge! But I’m really excited to be taking it on and raising money for such a great cause.
The Charity
Macmillan do whatever it takes to provide the best support to people with cancer. Among many other things, they fund specialist cancer nurses, offer emotional, physical and practical help, and fight for real change to improve cancer care. Macmillan were a great support to my Grandma throughout her journey, and I hope that many others continue to receive the same support that she did.
Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist. This is why we have decided to raise as much money as we can for this cause. Anything you can do to support our challenge will be greatly appreciated!
