Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The bad news is that due to a pesky torn meniscus in my knee, my planned half marathon never actually happened. The good news is my sister and I are running one in September instead. The even better news is that gives you even longer to donate to the bloody fantastic Shelter from the Storm.
Homelessness across Britain, especially in London, is getting worse and worse due to a whole combination of really shitty and cruel government policies:
- Cutting funding to local authorities meaning they can't provide those at risk of homelessness with vital support
- Failing to tackle the ever rising cost of living
- Cutting mental health services that provide support to so many vulnerable people
- Doing its utmost to eradicate social housing
- Despite promising to replace social houses ‘one-for-one’, in the last year, the government has built just one social home for every eight sold off under the harmful right-to-buy scheme. It was only a few months ago that David Cameron announced plans to bulldoze entire council estates.
So even though in an ideal world shelters wouldn’t be necessary, seeing as that isn't reality please GIVE GENEROUSLY and I promise not to flake out on this next race
(Even if you can’t give money, if you have any clothes you are looking to throw out let me know and I will come and collect as the shelter is in need!)
