Unfortunately I've had to postpone my swims. I'll update as soon as I have a new date ...hoping to do them in June.
My challenge for 2019 is to swim 100km in 10 days.
It may sound like a freakishly long distance but I believe it's possible! I've learnt you can surprise yourself by what you can achieve if you put your mind to it, have a plan and chip away at it - what seems like an impossible target at the beginning can become a reality.
This is why, as well raising money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie, I want to encourage others to challenge themselves. I'm asking people to pledge to sign up for a Swimathon. You don't need to swim 100km – there are 400m, 1.5km, 2.5km and 5km options - pick whichever distance would be a challenge for you! You can swim as an individual, or get together with friends, family or colleagues to enter as a team.
I'm aiming to match the 100km distance I'll be swimming, with the total swimming distance pledged by others.
If you enter the code SWIM19ESTHER when you sign up for your swimathon (www.swimathon.org), you'll get 50% off the entry fee and it will mean I'm able to track how many kms people have pledged to swim.
Whatever your motivations for joining in – to get fitter, to benefit your mental health, to compete against your colleagues.. - I guarantee you'll impress yourself by what you achieve!
[My swims - two 5km Swimathons each day, one in the morning
and one in the evening - will be taking place between Friday 22nd and Sunday 31st March in various pools across Cambridgeshire]
